What’s the most delicious taste in the world? Everyone has an opinion about that. That’s what makes food such a good conversation starter. Easy Green Recipes uses the power of food to start conversations about sustainability.
Sustainability: Meeting our needs without preventing future generations from meeting theirs.
Easy Green Recipes was founded by food writer and sustainability expert Jennifer Richards. During her conversations with farmers, chefs, health professionals, researchers and retailers she kept hearing the same comment: “But nobody cooks any more!”
All these experts agreed that our society’s move away from home cooking was contributing to many types of health and environmental problems. Easy Green Recipes wants to change that. We are on a mission to equip communities with cooking skills to empower them to be healthy, sustainable and food secure. We want to restore people’s confidence in the kitchen and bring joy back to the process of healthy home cooking.
Gastronomy: The practice or art of choosing, cooking, and eating good food.
We do this in two ways. Firstly, we share easy recipes. This year we are focussing on spices. There are lots of delicious dishes that are cheap, healthy and can be whipped up with virtually no skill in less time than it takes to call the pizza place! Easy Green Recipes focuses on these recipes, and the basic skills you need to cook good food without fuss. You can share with us by connecting on Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram.
We also run sustainability workshops, cooking classes and bespoke food events that encourage people to think about the big issues around food while having fun with practical (and delicious) food activities. Our workshops are presented with a sense of fun and an abundance of energy. You can read what people say about our events or listen to our podcast to get a sense of what we do.
